Dress code for invitations to a wedding in the evening: rules of style and etiquette! When receiving a wedding, immediately after the initial joy for the good news, a Hamlet doubt assails us: “How will I dress?”. Do not worry, there is the right clothing for every event and especially for weddings, where the dress code comes to the rescue dictating rules to avoid mistakes. And helping us choose formal clothes, shoes, And accessories best suited to the occasion. Today we see how to choose the outfit indicated for evening weddings.
Often, especially when it comes to theme parties. Or evening weddings that include a party after dinner, among the various information that you find indicated on the participation, you could meet an explicit request of the spouses about the dress code … excellent! Although initially, it might seem like a “nuisance”, in fact, knowing exactly how you will have to dress, you will take away a nice headache, greatly reducing the chances of making mistakes!
In the event that on the invitation there is no indication about the dress code, for evening weddings (those that start after 6 pm), according to the etiquette, a formal dress is generally required. So yes to long formal dresses that reach up to the ankle, but also to those mid-cocktails if the newlyweds are youthful and informal.
The most suitable fabrics depend on the season in which the marriage is celebrated; in summer, chiffon or satin are to be preferred for their lightness, freshness and above all comfort. In winter even thicker and stiff fabrics, such as taffeta, for example, can be a good choice. You could also opt for lace, as long as the embroidery is particularly sophisticated. As for the shades, as a rule, the solid color in dark colors is the most formal option. But the dress code does not forbid to also opt for elegant formal dresses in other colors. Or patterns, as long as the designs are delicate and not excessively colored.
Attention: the total white look (sole prerogative of the bride!) And the total black one are forbidden absolutes: the black is not suitable for an occasion like that of the wedding, unless it is combined with other contrasting shades, such as the white, and/or enriched with colored accessories.
Other factors, really important to keep in mind when choosing the type of dress to wear at an evening wedding, are without a doubt the location. And the style of the wedding. In fact, many changes if it is a beach wedding, in an informal style. Or in a castle where a more ceremonious dress code is a must. In the first case, feel free too many rules, in the second instead follow our suggestions!
Accessories: bags and jewelry
As for the accessories, especially speaking of jewels, they absolutely have to be there but with balance, so without exaggeration. Yes to gold objects but, if the earrings are already too flashy, avoid “weighing down” with a showy necklace. Instead, combine something more discreet and delicate, perhaps opting for a bracelet. Ok Go ahead for the small clutch bag, not necessarily combined with shoes and enriched by some bright detail. No instead to hats or hats with a veil, much more suitable for a wedding day. Better to opt for tiaras or other kinds of clasps, maybe with rhinestones or applications, as long as you do not wear an already “important” dress.
What to wear on your feet? Elegant shoes without a doubt, preferably with high heels, to define and complete a refined look to be invited. So go ahead with decollete or sandals, depending on the season in which you are, perhaps embellished with small stones. Or in the very fashionable shades of gold and silver.
Obviously, look for models with heels that are comfortable! It is important that you feel comfortable during the reception. But if you are afraid of suffering or feeling tired, think of a spare pair of shoes to wear after dinner: if the wedding protagonist changes her wedding shoes during a party, you can certainly do it too!
